To Wilberforce Weekend Orlando Friends!

Hi! If you are currently attending the Colson Center’s Wilberforce Weekend in Orlando, this is a message for you!

Orlando is where I live and each Sunday night I lead worship at The Cathedral Church of Saint Luke (about 20min away from the Rosen in downtown Orlando).

Please join me this Sunday night, May 15, after Wilberforce Weekend. It would be an honor to have you worship with us.

You can find out more here.

There is free parking around the church and the service begins at 6pm.

Come To Church & Get Lit

The Collect for the Second Sunday after Epiphany (The Book of Common Prayer)

Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Advent Hymn: Lo, He Comes With Clouds Descending

One of my favorite hymns of this season… Helping us prepare to not only relive the first coming of Jesus Christ, but live- in advance- his second coming. We do this weird kind of “remembering the future” thing in the Eucharistic Liturgy of the Church when we “remember” that “Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.” It’s a strange juxtaposition of our past, present, and future, but it’s all captured in this hymn.

A Sermon for Christmas

The Christmas that Christianity offers is anything but cute, sentimental, or trite. The birth of Jesus Christ hails a new moment in the story God is writing in our world. This gives us comfort because, let’s be honest, we don’t need a “cute Christmas,” we need a Christmas that touches the darkest moments in our lives.
